New Zealand Fashion (or Anisha models her wild wardrobe)

Not much is going on, aside from procrastinating and studying. Some of my friends have gone on a road trip to see north of Auckland, but I’ve already been up to most of it diving, essentially exploring the parts that I wanted to see. My next trip isn’t until the 18 and 19 of June, when I’ll be diving the Tui and Waikato shipwrecks, and a couple of other sites in the Poor Knights Islands. Until then, I’ve decided to blog on specific topics.

Today’s topic- New Zealand fashion. My friend Anisha was more than excited to show off her unique kiwi style! Here, like I’ve said before, literally anything goes. Kiwis are big on anything not cotton- so things made out of lace, satin, velvet, furry yarns, furs, etc. are super popular. When you look at the pictures from Anisha's fashion show, notice the furry blue and white sweater (they call them jumpers here), the sparkly sequined black top, and the dark greenish dress made out of essentially very furry yarn. In New Zealand, the funkier the better! I don't think I've been here long enough to start wearing furry dresses, but you never know! (Don't forget you can click on each picture if you want to view the clothes up close!)

I also included Olly, who dresses like a typical male here- they actually think before they get dressed, wear fancy shoes, tight pants, v-necks, brand name clothes, etc. Much different from most of the guys I’m used to!

Let me know what you think of New Zealand fashion- chelsea.roy@uconn.edu
