Yep, I was right. Today's Fountain Crawl was probably the craziest thing I'll do all semester. We put on our wetsuits, each got a bottle of champagne and jumped into Albert Park fountain at 7:00 this morning. We had snorkel races, turned the fountain into a whirlpool, took pictures with tons of graduating seniors (today was one of the graduation days), and even managed to climb up the beautiful statue. From there, we went to the fountains by the art gallery, where I managed to slide across the entire tile floor in my wetsuit when I slipped! We went into a 30 foot fountain inside of a business building, and we did the slip-n-slide shaped fountain in front of a church. We got so many waves and smiles from people on their way to work, partly because we were being so friendly. We were all in a great mood and I think we got other people to be as well. We ended the morning jumping into the ocean by the ferry dock, where there are conveniently placed concrete steps so you can get out of the water really easily. Unfortunately, I lost my mask and snorkel while doing a cannonball. I'll have to buy a new one before I go on the next dive trip. Other than that and laughing off the few times I fell (who knew wet booties could be SO slippery?), I had the best time ever with the Auckland Uni Underwater Club.
As soon as I get some pictures from one of the guys that had a camera, I'll be sure to post them.
