Day 51 (and plan for the next few weeks)

Today was a great day to rest and relax. I got an external hard drive this morning to put all my dive pictures and videos on, and spent the rest of the day at International House. It was wonderful to stay around here for a day! I also skyped (video chatted) with my friend Dave for a while in the afternoon. He’s the diver whose joining me and my friend Flora, and we’re renting a campervan on Wednesday night or Thursday morning to drive around and visit lots of places in New Zealand. Here’s the tentative plan: (dates are all in April, get out your maps!)

13- Dave gets here, go grocery shopping, possibly pick up the car

14- Drive to Coromandel peninsula, check out the hot water beach

15- swim with dolphins in Tauranga, drive to Gisborne for the night

16- Be the first people to see the sunrise in Gisborne, drive to Wellington

17- see Te Papa, which is the national museum of New Zealand, spent a night at one of my friends’ houses

18- drive north, through Hamilton, arrive in Whangarei at night

19- Dive Poor Knights Islands

20- Either dive Poor Knights Islands again or take a bus up 90 mile beach to go sand-boarding and see Cape Reinga (northernmost point of New Zealand)

21- Dive Bay of Islands

22-25 Dive Matauri Bay with the Auckland Uni Underwater Club
Drive home on the 25

26- Tentatively going to Waiheke Island which is just a short ferry ride out from Auckland to go to the beach and see some vineyards

27-28 class, hand in lab reports, take a test

29-30- Taupo and Rotorua, which means jet boating, redwood forest, hot springs, zorbing!

I’m so excited for this trip!! Also, if you want to see some awesome underwater videos that I took in the Poor Knights Islands let me know, I can try to email them to you!!
