Day 12

Sad news- no scuba diving this weekend! The Underwater Club had to cancel the trip because all of the spots didn’t fill up and we can’t charter the boat if there’s not enough interest. I’ll hopefully be diving two weekends from now but in a different place. I’ll dive the Poor Knights Islands later on in the semester.

Today was good, pretty typical. I walked down Queen Street this morning and bought myself a New Zealand t-shirt. It’s got the Kiwi expression “sweet as” on it, which means like awesome or totally cool. I also ended up donating $20 to this sweet talking guy about my age promoting meditation, yoga, and being really spiritual. I thought he was just being friendly and then he started complimenting me, and ended up getting me to buy a book that I probably will never read, called the Bhagavad Gita, which is an ancient spiritual text. Now I know not to talk to what looks like friendly people on the street! I’m pretty sure they’re always trying to sell something. I’m just glad I learned that early on!

Other than that, not too much exciting today. I had corned beef and potatoes and this chickpea-salad stuff for dinner, then got to relax because this is my weekend now! No classes on Friday! Next week I’m going to attend some different classes to see what I can take in place of my physics course.

Another note on shopping- I’m SO glad I brought makeup with me, because like Revlon brand lipstick is $25 per tube! UNBELIEVABLE! I’m not liking that things here are so expensive, and I also don’t like that I can’t have a job. I’m so used to purchasing things but then having my bank account fill right back up because I used to work all the time. Yeah, it leaves me more time to enjoy myself but I also am more money-conscious because I want to do all these fun trips but I still want to make sure I don’t drain my entire account.

Sorry the blog entries are not very exciting! I figured it would be like this, hopefully I’ll have lots to post this weekend!
